Hosted Exchange 2010 Information

For most businesses today, e-mail is the mission-critical communications tool that allows their people to produce the best results. This greater reliance on e-mail has increased the number of messages sent and received, the variety of work getting done, and even the speed of business itself. Amid this change, employee expectations have also evolved. Today, employees look for rich, efficient access—to e-mail, calendars, attachments, contacts, and more—no matter where they are or what type of device they are using.

Blacknight's Hosted Exchange is a hosted enterprise messaging solution based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. Hosted Exchange 2010 helps give your business the e-mail security it demands, your employees the e-mail access they want, and your IT staff the operational efficiency it needs. The service uses our knowledge of Microsoft products, best practices developed with Microsoft's customers and partners, and our infrastructure to deliver a world-class, mission-critical service.

High Availability

The Blacknight Hosted Exchange infrastructure uses a mixture of High Availability technologies. All of our servers use one of two approaches - either Network Load Balancing for the Front End Servers, and active/active DAG (Database Availability Group) for those that host data - i.e. the actual Mailbox Servers.

All servers in a Network Load Balancing cluster are active, meaning all are available at all times for processing of data. If a server fails within a cluster, the load is automatically distributed between the other nodes in the cluster.

Database Availability Group servers are configured as active/active. Data in these servers is automatically copied to the other nodes in the cluster. In the event of a failure of the active node, another node is ready to pick up the load immediately.

Blacknight offer a 99.999% uptime SLA with a moneyback guarantee.

Continuous Backup Protection

Blacknight backup your data every 15 minutes, that is almost 100 times a day! This is achieved with the use of Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2010. We use a combination of disk storage, for short term backups, and tape for long term protection of data.

Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam

Anti-Virus Protection is provided by Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server. Forefront uses multiple Anti-Virus engines to scan each email to protect both you and our infrastructure against the ever present threat of Viruses.

Anti-Spam protection is provided by blacklists such as Spamhaus and SpamCop, as well as Exchange's own built in Intelligent Messaging Filter.
